Welcome to “The Kievan Rus Park” – The Historical and Cultural Center of Kievan Rus
You are welcome to visit the unique place where V-XIII centuries Kiev’s Detinets-Kremlin architectural image is being reconstructed and reconstituted to full scale.
Now you have a chance to see for your own eyes the revival of Ancient Kiev – “the mother of Russian cities”, the capital of Kievan Rus, the historic core of the Slavic civilization, one of the most important parts of the cultural heritage of mankind. In the park you can dive into the atmosphere of the ancient times - get to know culture, architecture and way of living of Kievan Rus.
On the territory of the Detinets-Kremlin and ancient Kiev’s Predgradie visitors can see:
- Defensive constructions of Vladimir’s town and Kiy’s town (dirt walls and moats)
- A defensive wall – “Stolpie”
- Entrance gate with two three-level towers
- Stadium (medieval tournaments and games carrying out place)
- Prince’s chamber (a tribune for VIP guests)
- Watch towers
- Vikings’ and nomads’ camps
- ХІ-ХІІ centuries Kiev resident’s homestead etc.
The Park’s constructions are reconstituted with the maximum historical authenticity on basis of archaeological research and scientific data. Leading historians and archaeologists of Ukraine, CIS and Europe work for the project realization.

- Ancient Kiev’s Predgradie tour
- Defensive walls tour
- Visiting ancient Russian arms models reconstruction exhibition
The excursion duration is up to 60 min. A guide is provided.
Time of staying on the Park’s territory is not limited.
The park is open on weekends from 10.00 to 18.00.

“The Kievan Rus Park” location:
Kopachiv village, Obukhiv district, Kiev oblast, Ukraine (34 km far from Kiev)
Various events such as XII-XIV centuries military and historical festival, IX-XІ centuries historical and cultural festival, a festival-masquerade, stunt men festival, archery tournaments, traditional festivities etc.
Additional services:
1) Historical recreation center
Traditional archery center – Medieval shooting range
- shooting with traditional bows (10 shots – 20 hrn.)
- knife throwing
Getting ready for launch:
A historical reconstruction center (Kievan Rus times living way reconstruction, historical fencing master-classes, medieval wrestling etc.)
Folk handicrafts, arts and folklore center (Folk handicrafts, dances, authentic singing master-classes) etc.
2) Rent of costumes
- trying on ancient Russian townsfolk’s and princely clothes and warrior armours.
All comers have chance to feel themselves like ancient Russian warriors and townspeople and try on reconstructed clothes and armours of these times as well as to turn into a real resident of ancient Kiev.

3 )Ancient Russian merrymakings
Various medieval funs and games are organized by order. Cost is to be stated individually.
During the Park’s events – the amusements’ cost is included in cost of entrance ticket.
4) Catering
Public catering is organized on the territory of “The Kievan Rus Park” – ancient Russian menu. Individual order is available.
5) Individual programs (by prior arrangements)
In the historical and cultural center of Kievan Rus “The Kievan Rus Park” you can order various entertainment programs for your friends, clients and business partners:
- ancient warriors battles
- dramatized shows (stunts show, open air performances, skomorokh and ceremonial shows)
- horse riding and coach trips
- ethno-musical group shows
- over night stay in marquees and jurts
- various activities for kids and adults organizing by order

ІІІ international festival “The Kievan Rus”
International festival “The Kievan Rus Park” is continuing grandiose a theatrical performance played by legends and symbolic historical events of Kievan Rus. Historical reconstruction clubs, stunts theaters and professional actors take part in the show.
You can enjoy daytime events as well as night grandiose battles in the light of torches and bonfires.
We present to you a series of historical, cultural and educational oriented events from April to October 2010 as part of the 3-rd International Festival of Culture and History “The Kievan Rus Park”.
