"Mamaeva Sloboda" - Cossack village in the middle metropolis
In the heart of the capital - 7 km from Khreshchatyk, near the historic diversion of the river Lybid, stands the Cossack settlements, 98 objects of which spread among the curly cherry orchards, appointed with wicker fences.
In the middle of XVII century a French engi¬neer and cartographer Guillaume Le Vasseur de Beauplan said: “Ukraina est Terra Cosacorum” – “Ukraine is a Land of Cos¬sacks”. A Cossack village “Mamajeva Sloboda” has thematic exhibitions on the 9,2 hectares site and represents a full replica of a historical settlement depicting Ukrainian nature, architecture and the way of life.
